The Bouggess-White Scholarship Foundation award Scholarships
The Bouggess-White Scholarship Foundation award Scholarships to students attending a high school in LBUSD or LBCC.

Deadline to apply is Friday, April 18th before noon.  See Mrs. McIntosh or Mrs Archer.

Criteria:  Active member of a club or student government, miminum 2.5 gpa, official high school transcript, 2 letters of recommendation, and personal statement - Tell something about yourself that is unique or that distinguishes you from other students.

ALBEM - Scholarship -April 18th (applications due to counselors for seniors attending a 2 or 4 year college, interested in the field of counseling or planning to attend a Career or Technical School  $1,000 per application.  Applications are due to counselors by April 18th which will be turned in to Ablem by  later than April 30th, 2014.

Kiwanis Club of Long Beach - due April 30th, 2014 - 3.2 gpa

ILWU (Longshoreman Scholarship)- due May 2nd, 2014

Harbor Association of Industry & Commerce - still open until further notice

All fines and detentions must be cleared for all senior extra-curricular activitiesStill needing service learning hours for graduation?  Must complete and turn in no later than Monday, April 28th, 2014. No Service? Get Nervous! These hours are mandatory for graduation.

ONLY 11th grade students will be tested in the computer labs. Students are assigned testing times during their regularly scheduled Period 1 through Period 3. No special schedule, regular class times.

Free Work Readiness training

Cabrillo Students Sign Up for a free Work Readiness training. If you complete the training and obtain the certificate, you can get an opportunity to be placed in a paid work experience. To qualify for the training, you must be 16 years and older and you have to live in Long Beach or Signal Hill. The training will begin April 21st. Come to WRAP Room 1603 ASAP.  Space is limited.

Health Festival

Volunteer at the Health Festival as part of the ACCESS 5K on Saturday, May 3rd from 9am-12pm in AK Park. This will count as Saturday school & service hours! Volunteer meeting today, Thursday April 10th, after school in Ms. Wilson's Room 1134 to sign-up.

Prom contracts are now available in Rm 307.  One must clear all fines and detentions before picking up Prom Tickets in room 307.  Fines and detentions must be cleared for all senior extra-curricular activities.

Denim Day--full lunch rally on Wednesday, April 30th.  Chief Officer McDonnell will be on hand In bringing awareness about sexual assault towards women. We ask that everyone wears denim that day.

Summer Youth Program

Summer Youth Program is a 7 week program to help young people lay a strong foundation for future job search. The program offers classroom training and hands-on experience working on different job sites. The program starts on June 16th and ends on July 31st. Work hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00am to 3:30pm; Friday from 7:00am to 2:00pm. Pay rate is $11.00 per hour.

To be eligible, you must be:

1) 17 to 19 years old.

2) Must attend Cabrillo high school.

3) Available to work the hours listed above

4) Available to work the entire seven week program

Read, print, and fill out the attachments and see Ms. Archer in the College and Career Center. Application deadline is by noon on Friday, April 18th.

Cabrillo High School 2014 PROM Ticket Agreement and Dance Contract

Date: Saturday, May 31, 2014, 8:00 PM - 12 MIDNIGHT 

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS READY WHEN PURCHASING YOUR PROM TICKET(S) FROM THE BANKER’S OFFICE:

  1. Current School ID card (if lost/stolen, please pay the banker $5.00 for a new ID card).
  2. Copy of your guest’s school ID card (if attending from another school) or Driver’s License (if you are bringing a guest/date).
  3. Signed Contract by you (required of ALL students) and your parent/guardian (required of students under the age 18)
  4. Signed Contract by your guest(s) and their parent/guardian(s) (if you are bringing a guest/date).
  5. Sufficient cash or money order (see price table on back).  NO CHECKS or CREDIT CARDS!
  6. All fines must be cleared by the banker, bookroom, and library prior to picking up PROM ticket(s).
  7. Seniors must complete all 40 Service Learning Hours prior to picking up your PROM ticket(s).
  8. You must clear all detentions for this year or any prior years at Cabrillo H.S. before picking up PROM ticket(s).

Community Service, Saturday School Credit and Building your Resume

Opportunity to get community service, Saturday school credit and build your resume! Volunteer for the Highway to Health Festival as part of the All-ACCESS 5K in Admiral Kidd Park on Saturday, May 3rd from 9am-12pm. See Ms. Wilson in Room 1134 to sign-up. Planning meetings are ALL Thursdays of April during Lunch in Ms. Annin's Room 1005. Snacks & water will be provided.
