Attention Jags!

April 29 through May 5 is Teacher Appreciation Week. Show your teachers some love by completing one or more “Best Teacher” pages. You can print out copies from the attachment or pick them up in the 100, 500, or 1000 building this week through Wednesday, May 2nd. There will also be forms available on the rally stage during lunch, from Monday, April 30th through Thursday, May 3rd. Completed forms should be turned in to the 100, 500, or 1000 buildings & will be delivered to teachers’ mailboxes on Friday, May 4th. This is a great opportunity to show appreciation and give a little something back to the teachers who have supported you!

The Cabrillo Dance Company was honored to receive a donation that allowed the entire team  to compete in Escondido California over a grueling three day weekend. The dancers competed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in nine categories and were able to walk away with multiple honors. Cabrillo Dance Company was the ONLY high school entered in a competition that was created for Studio-trained dancers. Please congratulate them! They represented Cabrillo well. Go Jags!

  • Small Group Jazz - 1st place, Judges Award (Powerful Dance Performance Award).
  • Lyrical Solo - Che'Lyn Lane - Top 1st place, NYC Invitation.
  • Musical Theater Solo - Debreanna Helmage - Top 1st place.
  • Lyrical Solo - Adronni Willis - 1st place, NYC Invitation
  • Hip Hop Solo - John Arceno - Elite Top 1st place, 2nd  in Region, John was also given the title : 2018  MR. DANCE AMERICA.
  • Hip Hop Duet - Che’Lyn Lane and Debreanna Helmage -  Top 1st place, Hollywood Dance Invitation.
  • Lyrical Duet  -  Debreanna Helmage and John Arceno Top 1st place, Region Champions, HIGH POINT AWARD, Two Pulse Dance Scholarships, and Invitation to compete in Australia.

On Tuesday, May 1st, the Academy of Global Logistics (AGL) and Leadership Long Beach are holding a Career Fair from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the small gym. This fair presents an opportunity for students to talk with Business representatives from various industries. All attendees will have the opportunity to win an Apple iWatch, a Shoe City Gift Certificate and an Amazon Echo.

On Friday, April 27th, the Academy of Global Logistics (AGL) is having an 11th grade mixer during lunch. Students in attendance will have lunch with business professional and a chance to talk and find out about careers. Report to Room 309 during lunch on April 27. The mixer ends at 1:30 p.m. Professional attire & resume are required.

On Saturday April 28th AGL students are partnering with Friends of the L.A. River (FOLAR), to clean up the L.A. River at the Willow Street Estuary. This event runs from 9:00-12:00. If interested, see Mr. Dowding in Room 1418 for more information and permission slips.

On Wednesday, April 25th Cabrillo will celebrate Denim Day in collaboration with the Long Beach Police Chief’s Women’s Advisory Group and the YWCA of Greater Los Angeles by welcoming the Clothesline Project, a visual representation of violence against women, and by hosting a lunchtime rally. Wear your jeans and sign the pledge to help end sexual violence in our communities.

  • One in 9 girls and 1 in 53 boys under the age of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult. (RAINN)
  • 82% of all victims under 18 are female. (RAINN)

CRADDOCK Engineering Group located at 1 World Trade Center, 8th Floor, in Long Beach has a Summer Internship Opportunity from June 18th-July 27th

Candidates will have the opportunity to receive six weeks of paid training in the area of software development, and explore a career as a Software Developer.

Requirements:

  • Must have completed 10th grade by end of the school year
  • Candidate must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum grade of B in Algebra or higher math
  • Candidate must have a valid work permit upon hire
