We train anywhere and everywhere - from runs to the Queen Mary and back - to fitness work in the pool, bike room and weight rooms.
We train playing futsal in the gyms or tennis courts. We also train playing soccer tennis and soccer volleyball. But most of our training is done on the BEST soccer field in the district.  I hope to see as many players come out as possible. Good Luck to all!

Hello AP Graduates!

Congratulations on being recognized for your  HIGH HONORS Advanced Placement Achievement over your four year high school course of study. We are extremely proud of you and applaud your dedication and efforts towards setting high goals for yourselves and achieving them with such tenacity.

All stoles must be returned by June 16th to receive a full $20 cash refund. The $20 cash will be returned to you when the stole is returned in the same condition as when you picked it up.

This district wide procedure is followed in case there is something that prohibits you from being able to return the stole to Ms. Godfrey after graduation. The stoles belong to the District and are not for sale, so we must be able to replace any that are damaged or not returned for next year's AP graduates to wear.

Congratulations!

Ms. Godfrey

This Holiday Season, Cabrillo Wrap will participate in our first annual Service Project, The Giving Tree. We would like to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate children in our community. What better way than to serve children in our own backyard.  We have partnered with WRAP Hudson and will be giving gifts to students in their WRAP Program, and we need your help to make this happen.

Wrap Hudson has identified twenty-one kindergarten and first grade students who would benefit from our project. We would love to bring them a little extra cheer and happiness this holiday season. In order to accomplish our goal we need and are asking for your help.

The children have decorated paper ornaments which include a list of wish items.  These ornaments are hanging from a tree in the WRAP Office, room 1603. We are hoping that you will find it in your heart to choose an ornament and purchase one (1) of the gifts listed on the wish list (No item requested cost more than $20).  Please purchase the gift, wrap it and return it to the WRAP Office, room 1603, no later than Friday, December, 16th. Cabrillo WRAP students will be delivering the gifts to Hudson on Monday, December 19th.

We hope we can count on your participation. I am sure the Hudson children will be grateful for your kindness and generosity. Your gift may be the only one they unwrap this year.

Thank you so much for your participation.

The Cabrillo High School GEMS Girls in Engineering Math and Science Club is pleased to announce their second annual Toy Drive. Last year, with generous support from the Cabrillo community, GEMS collected over 300 toys. These toys were donated to and gratefully accepted by Miller’s Children Hospital in Long Beach. This year the GEMS goal is 500 toys to donate to the Long Beach Fire Department’s “Sparks of Love” Toy Drive. You may bring your toy donations to Room 609 (Ms. Bravo) before school, during lunch, and after school until Tuesday, December 20th. We thank you in advance for your support. Together we can let local children know someone remembers them during the holidays.

Cabrillo High School celebrated the launch of the Port of Long Beach Academy of Global Logistics recently during a ceremony.

The partnership between the Long Beach Unified School District and the Port combines academic curriculum with real-world training to help prepare Cabrillo students for college and high-paying, high-demand jobs.

The four-year academy is one of many career pathways offered in local high schools and builds on the nationally recognized Long Beach College Promise by helping students to earn certifications and degrees offered by Long Beach City College and California State University, Long Beach.

“We are very proud of the work everybody is doing for the Long Beach College Promise,” Board of Harbor Commissioners Vice President Lou Anne Bynum said.

“Our port has made a commitment to education and our community because we understand the importance of investing in future leaders,” Bynum said.Port_Students_WebLarge.jpg
Students will learn about Port operations, including supply chain technology, security, and maritime, rail and distribution warehouse operations as they interact with industry experts and participate in job shadowing and summer internships.

“The work that you are doing today is not only going to benefit our young people here in Long Beach Unified and specifically here at Cabrillo,” LBUSD Superintendent Christopher J. Steinhauser said at the ceremony.  “I can guarantee you this is going to be the perfect gold standard for what pathways need to do in academies.”

Mr. Federici - AP Studio (Drawing & 2D Design) Summer’s Art Production 16–17

You have signed up for a Studio AP Class and you are about to embark on a distinctive academic experience. Building a successful art portfolio for submission to the College Board can be a daunting task, which will also give you a tremendous sense of pride and accomplishment.

In order to achieve such a goal, you must be able to work independently in the classroom and at home, at an intense pace, under deadline pressures.

The work that you will produce in the next couple of months will relieve some of the pressure you will be feeling during the school year.

Attached is a list of projects you need to tackle at home. You may choose to produce more samples for each category or create something that it is not even part of this list. No matter what you do, it must be done professionally by using a variety of media and it must show your artistic talents, your craftsmanship and dedication. Remember that some of this work may be included in your portfolio for final submission, next May.

Reminder:

The Music Department's Summer Rehearsals are on June 29th, July 6th, July 13th, and July 20th. from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M.

Band Camp starts on August 10th through August 26th from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Parent(s):

Music Boot Camp is a requirement. If your child needs to miss one or two meetings due to vacation, please write me (Ms. Gladstone) a note and I will excuse him/her from the rehearsals.

However, all band students must attend to be included in the field show and the class, as an exciting part of their musical education. We suggest that all students dress according to the August weather and wear supportive marching shoes (no sandals or open toed shoes). Students should also bring sunscreen, ample bottled water, and a light snack for their break. Students will not be allowed to leave the Cabrillo campus during the hours of 8:00 – 1:00With prior approval, visitors are allowed during rehearsals.

We truly appreciate a donation of two (2) cases of water to help keep our kids hydrated.

Ms. Gladstone
