The ASVAB Career Exploration Program empowers students nationwide to discover their skills and interest, explore occupations, and develop post secondary plans to realize those goals. ASVAB testing will take place at Cabrillo on March 22nd in Rm 309. For more information on ASVAB, visit and/or see LTC F Amos, ROTC Instructor. Start exploring.


The University of Southern California is pleased to announce the creation of USC Bovard Scholars, a new program which aims to help high-achieving high school rising seniors with financial need gain admission to and succeed at the nation’s top universities. 


The USC Bovard Scholars will receive admission and financial aid guidance, comprehensive test preparation, personalized career exploration and leadership development opportunities. The program includes an intensive, three-week residential experience during the summer on the USC campus and personal coaching throughout the college application and decision-making process, all at no cost to the student.  Our scholars will engage with guest speakers, industry experts, career specialists and recent college graduates to define their personal pathway to college and beyond.

The summer program is set to run July 16 – August 5, 2017.   The program application is now open for the pilot year.  The application due date is February 17, 2017.  All interested and eligible high school juniors are encouraged to apply.  Space in the program is limited.  For more information, visit


Cabrillo students and faculty represented the Jaguar Nation at Bakersfield. Cabrillo had 43 students and 3 faculty member present at the California State Trade Show and competition. Cabrillo students earned a 9th place in Company newsletter and 7th place in company Web page.  Students are now preparing for the LA competitions on February 13.  Congrats to our students, Mr. Zeeman, and Ms. Carillo.

Students and staff are now getting ready for the LA event.


Calling all Jags.  The application for next year’s ASB Student Council is now available via School Website or in the ASB room.  The application is due Wednesday, February 1 to the ASB room by 3:30 pm.  Good luck to all. 


How To Enroll in an AP, Honors, or Accelerated Class:

AP Programming Sheet

1. Pick up yellow AP Programming sheet during the assemblies or Open House Sessions, from your AP/H/ACC teachers, Ms. Godfrey (304) or from your counselors.  All course choices will be listed on one page.

2. Visit classrooms at lunch or after school during Rush Week

3. Speak with teachers and get all required signatures.

4. Take home for your parent or guardian to sign.

5. Turn in your completed yellow programming sheet to the drop boxes in the 500, 1000, and ACCESS buildings, or room 304 by 4:00p.m. on Tuesday, January 31st, 2017.


Attention 9th and 10th grade students only.  Have you thought about changing SLC’s?  Now is the time to complete the form to be considered for an SLC change.  Please see your counselor for the form.  The deadline to change SLC’s is Friday, January 27.  No incomplete forms will be accepted.  No late forms will be considered.  See your current counselor for more details.

The US Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) has opportunities for you to support and gain experience in university research programs while earning a stipend.The Research and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (REAP) provides opportunities for high school students from historically underrepresented and under served populations, as defined by the Department of Education and National Science Foundation. The application window for the Cabrillo Linked Learning Student Ambassadors is now open. Students must complete the application which  includes two staff recommendations (Rubric is on application), and Lead Teacher approval. 

Current 10th and 11th grade students may apply if they meet the criteria on the app. This program is a pilot for the district and will look very good on your college application. 

 If you are interested, please fill out and submit the attached application or see Mr. Itson in the 100 building.

 Deadline: Applications are due to Mr. Itson in Room 115 on January 26th


If you are interested in auditioning for the spring play, we are having open auditions from January 24th through January 26th. For more information and to pick up audition materials, please see Mr. Jacobs in the Black Box.


Seniors, by now you should all have received instructions from your English teachers for submitting senior quotes and baby pictures to the yearbook staff. Please keep in mind that there is NO FEE for submitting either item, as we want everyone to have a senior quote and baby picture in the yearbook.
