2020 Ignite LA Applications are Live

This opportunity sends students on an all-expenses-paid Earth Watch Expedition over the summer to conduct hands-on scientific research in the field at a variety of locations throughout the country. 

Open to current LA County high school students who will be sophomores and juniors in Fall 2019.

The fellowship looks for students with energy, creativity, and a passion to learn, and is not based on academic performance (grades, GPA, test scores, etc.).  Applications are due by December 4th at earthwatch.org/ignite.


How to Apply- Three Easy Steps

  1. Student opens an online application at earthwatch.org/ignite and answers three short answer essay questions (100-300 words maximum each) and the e-mail address for an adult mentor willing to provide a recommendation. (Deadline - December 4) 
  2. After submitting the application, the portal will e-mail the adult mentor (one required, though up to two encouraged) for their recommendation. (Deadline - December 9) 
  3. Awarded applicants are notified in March 2020 of their fellowship!
