Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students

Welcome to Cabrillo High Schools’ 2018-19 school year. If this is your first year at Cabrillo, we welcome you. Our staff has been working hard to ensure you have a great high school experience.

We look forward to increasing the number of students enrolling in Advanced Placement and completing A-G classes this year. There will be many opportunities for students to receive support and guidance to be successful in this coursework through the Counseling Center, AVID program, AP tutorials, and other school-wide support programs.  The Cabrillo Promise is to have all students complete at least one Honors or Advanced Placement class prior to graduation.

Our Career Pathways are thriving.  Pathway teachers have been working diligently over the summer to provide more career exposure and opportunities for students. Some of our Academy of Global Logistics (AGL) teachers participated in an externship this summer and gained valuable knowledge to share with students. The partnership that AGL is building with the Port of Long Beach is going to be fantastic. We look forward to watching our students participate in global logistics curriculum and activities at the Long Beach Port. Likewise, our other academic teachers have put in a lot of time and effort into developing Common Core lessons in preparation for the spring SBAC testing.

The campus is alive with athletics, band, cheer, NJROTC, and other student activities.  The students are working hard. We hope to have a lot of success in our upcoming competitions.

Parents, please help us to accomplish our goals by giving us your support.  It is extremely important that our students are here on time, attend every day, abide by the dress code, exemplify integrity and respect, and come prepared to learn. A strong parent partnership is vital for the success of our students. Our Parent Center is open daily, offers a variety of parent oriented classes and can always use your support. We can succeed only with your help!  Jaguar Pride!

Respectfully,

Cheryl A. Cornejo
